A z toho pramenila moje nervozita.

A ejhle, dorazilo potvrzení o trenérské způsobilosti!

A dnes nadešel můj čas:

Today we introduce a young Czech artist Martina Nacházelová, who painted 18 species for EBBA2.
I have loved drawing and nature ever since I can remember. Since I had gotten my hands on an old binocular as a teenager, I used to spend much time outdoors watching birds with my dad. My two passions were easy to combine and I plunged into drawing all the more when I received my first digital tablet. That was around the time I started studying biology at the Charles University in Prague, focusing my field research on mating behaviour of Northern Lapwings.

Currently I work as a fulltime artist for an American company and my free time is divided between working on personal art projects as a hobby and a means of honing my skills, and doing sports, especially karate.

I am excited to support a huge project as EBBA2 and I am happy that my pictures will be printed alongside those of the more experienced artists, whose work I admire.

Krmítko

Na zahradě máme už pár měsíců krmítko. Nejživěji tu bylo začátkem léta, kdy jsme ho prvně postavili, a mladé koňadry dělaly nálety. Těch se vešlo najednou do krmítka i šest. Teď se tu objevují hlavně straky a sojky, koňadry a dva brhlíci.

Birdwatching at Tresický and Bohdanecský ponds

After some time my dad took me birdwatching not too far from Prague. We first visited Třesický rybník and although it looked pretty empty, when we walked around and looked carefully in the muds, we soon discovered a few species of shorbirds! A flock of Dunlins (Calidris alpina) with a single Common Ringed Plover (Charadrius hiaticula). When turning back I saw a Eurasian Curlew (Numenius arquata) land straight across from us and on the other side of the pond in near a small water pond we saw a couple of Common Snipes (Gallinago gallinago) and a Green Sandpiper (Tringa ochropus).

Since there was still a bit of time till the evening, we drove to a bigger pond with a birdwatching watchtower not too far away. This Bohdanečský pond was full of water and birds, unlike the previous one. A lot of various species of ducks, both Greylag Goose (Anser anser) and Greater White-fronted Geese (Anser albifrons), some Herons, Egrets, Cormorants, Grebes etc. I heard a voice of a Eurasian Penduline Tit (Remiz pendulinus), who should be migrating at this time and may be easier to see. We played its voice and it hardly took a couple of seconds, before an angry male was flying our way, nearly looking to fly straight into the watchtower. We watched it for a while, stopped the recording, and after a while we even saw a flock of another five penduline tits. Nice!
Before we left, we heard the loud call of a Common Crane (Grus grus) and saw a family of three fly fairly close to us across the water. It may even be the closest I've ever seen them. And I forgot to bring the camera! Soooo sad!

Birdwatching u Třesického a Bohdanečského rybníka

Nejdřív jsme navštívili Třesický rybník a přestože na první pohled zel prázdnotou, když jsme procházeli okolo a kontrolovali bahno, brzy jsme objevili několik bahňáků! Hejno jespáků obecných s jediným kulíkem říčním. Při cestě zpět se ukázala i koliha velká a přímo naproti nám na druhém konci rybníka jsme u malé louž viděli dvě bekasiny otavní a vodouše kropenatého.

Protože do večera zbýval ještě nějaký čas, zejeli jsme ještě k nedalekému Bohdanečskému rybníku. Několik druhů kachen a husy velké i běločelé, volavky popelavé, bílé, kormoráni, potápky, etc.
Vypnuli jsme nahrávku a chvilku ho pozorovali.

Laugaricio Gasshuku in Trencianské Stankovce, Slovakia

27.9.-29.9. 2019 - karate seminar taught by:

Sensei Tetsuji Nakamura (7th dan, IOGKF Chief instructor)
Sensei Ernie Molyneux (8th dan, IOGKF Vice chief instructor)
Sensei Henrik Larsen (8th dan, IOGKF Vice chief instructor)

I had an big event in my former High school and couldn't leave on time to be in Slovakia at 5 pm when the Friday trainng started. Together with picking other people up, we drove for 450 km in a thick traffic and only arrived a few minutes after midnight.

Saturday 28.9.

When we arrived we first went to greet and bow to the teaching senseis, two of whom actually seem to recognize even us, students, from various events we've already met them at.

This was my first seminar as a black belt, therefore I fell either in the all black belts group, or sometimes it was split up to 1st to 3rd degree black belts and the seniors.

Training lasted from 9 am to 1 pm, with an our for Junbi Undo (traditional warm-up and stretching) and kihon  (basic techniques) and then each group had a nearly an hour long block with each sensei, with a break in between each.

Junbi Undo and Kihon were done by sensei Ernie today. I tried to do my best as for the first part, sensei Nakamura was standing right behind me :O

The subsequent blocks were all great. We practised Seiyunchin kata with sensei Larsen, Yakusoku kumite with sensei Ernie (it has to be his favourite), and sensei Nakamura, when he arrived, announced: Tensho! Great, this is a kata I have only been taught once or twice quite a long ago and seriously don't remember. I didn't have a chance to practise this more advanced stuff yet, so I was messing up, but doing my best to copy sensei and everyone else. Dang, I'll have to learn it!

We had some free time during the afternoon and went to the traditionally organized "Sayonara" party in a pub. The organizers prepared plenty of meat and bread, peppers and horseraddish for us to just eat, before eeryone has a chance to order as serving the whole pub at once would be impossible and we'll just be grumpy from hunger :D It definitely worked, except, I wasn't hungry anymore for any main course. We had a nice time, though.

Three senseis in the middle and our group from the Czech Republic. Quite a lot of people arrived this year!

Sunday 29.9. 2019

The same format of training as yesterday with the warm-up led by sensei Larsen today. It was a bit more draining as he added some variations of push-ups, squats and belly exercises. Plus a exercise using basic techniques practised solo and then done in pairs again and again and again and quicky. I paired with a friend who has a fresh 2nd degree black belt and he really isn't usually going easy. We were both dripping with sweat when we ended. But I felt good about it.

Sensei Nakamura taught us kakie this time and three locks. Then several combination of these, and transitions from one to another. I partnered us with a woman from Germany and enjoyed training with her. Also learned form her they will be holding another Gasshuku late in November in Germany. Hmmmmm. :)

And then my stress levels just kept rising from there:

We were a group of 1st to 3rd dans now. Sensei Henrik arrived and announced: "Saifa kata!" When we did that, he called out: "Seyunchin kata!" Then came: "Shisochin kata!" and after, a bit to my dismay: "Sanseru!"
Ok, I thought I could probably figure the steps out at least, as this is the kata I will be learning next and I did learn it on a few occassions, but was still fairly unsure, messed up a few time along the way and then completely forgot about one technique and just couldn't continue. Sensei was obviously overseeing how we fare and was checking how we know each kata and I guess his goal was to stop at where we have trouble and practise that, so his block was a practise of Sanseru kata. Which was great, practising Sanseru is just what I need, even if I was a little worried.

I though the worst was behind me now, until sensei Ernie arrived and announced: "Sepai!" Oh my gosh, what have I done to deserve this?! Sapai is the next kata after Sanseru and I was taught briefly, for an hour like two years ago and I couldn't remember the steps even till the end of the block there, mcuh less till now. Basically I had no idea what the kata was about.
Sensei was however aware that this is the kata not all of us necessarily know, so he was explaining as much to the detail as the time allowed and encouraged us to just copy. This was very stressful as everyone I could see from my spot seemed to at least have an idea :D And because this kata is fairly long and really hard to explain or lear within like 50 minutes. But in the end, unbelievably, sensei Ernie seemed to embed the steps in my memory! Great, now I have to review and practise as to not forget them again! It will easily be practised at any other seminar we attend...

The seminar was great and overly I learned a lot considering that every other block was teaching us something I only knew a little to something I didn't have much or any idea about. I'll definitely be here next year, too, for the sixth time! :)

All the seminar attendees.

Birdwatching at Smíchovský rybník near Slavhostice

It was a while since my dad took me for a short birdwatching trip. Not overly far from our home, about an hour long drive to a small pond, where he'd seen some interesting waders a couple of days ago. We met another family birdwatching there. This was my first time here and the pond surprised me by how easy it was to see every corner of it. We saw around 5 Little Ringed Plovers (Charadrius dubius), 14 Common Snipes (Gallinago gallinago), 4 Wood Sandpipers (Tringa glareola) and 11 Northern Lapwings (Vanellus vanellus). Also a few White Wagtails (Motacilla alba) and some song birds like European Goldfinches (Carduelis carduelis) or European Greenfinch (Chloris chloris).

A pair of Common Cranes (Grus grus) calling

Soon we heard the typical etheric calls of  Common Cranes (Grus grus) from a nearby field. The two stood just on the horizon quite a distance away. It was awesome to watch them through the scope and see the crane open its beak asif calling, then close it and two secods after the sound of the call reached us :)
When the cranes disappeared, we moved back to the pond. Nothing new to be seen there, except for a Spotter Flycatcher (Muscicapa striata).

No jo, ti přilákali nejen nás, ale i jednu další ptáčkařskou rodinu.

Mushroom Hunting

I am spending this week at our family cottage, or rather, a summer house? Having a cottage or a house used mostly in summer is something that has a tradition and is very popular where I live. And I love ours. It is great to get out of the city once in a while and only chill in the outdoors, walk in the surounding forests, etc.

Not every mushroom is edible, but some are at least really worth taking a picture of.
Yellow staghorn (Calocera viscosa)

It was raining for at least a week now and it is the right time of the year for mushrooms. Mushroom hunting is another thing, also very close to cottaging, that has a tradition here. Even the news will usually tell how mycologists suppose mushrooms could start growing and in which parts of our country they do. And once this happens, the craze starts. While driving here, I noticed a car, or two, or six at about every entrance to any bigger forest and people with baskets looking for mushrooms. It is a popular family activity. Today my parents arrived and we went, too. There have been years and times when the mushrooms were much more numerous, but if we looked carefully, after a while we usually find a spot with a few. Until we filled our baskets. Good enough for today's lunch and at least a week or two of my favourite mushroom meals, yum!
I even found an elk's antler, for the very first time in my life, if I can remember. I am going to wash it carefully and put it someplace nice in our summer house.

Sometimes you can't avoid some uninvited guests in the bakset, like this well grown

Ibisbill

Ibisbill with a chick that we saw at Great Almaty Lake in Kazachstan nearly a month ago! What a beautiful sight, although they were rather far away and the chick was nearly invisible, but I found it and it was so cute! Have you guys ever saw wader chicks? They're the cutest creatures ever :)

I haven't tried watercolors in a long while and they gave me a bit of trouble so I smoothed out a couple of parts and sharpened some edges digitally. I guess it is mor mixed media now :)

Roe Deer at our Cottage

I was spending a couple of weeks at our family cottage, just at the border of a field, where, as far as I can remember, we've always been watching roe deer grazing as we were having our dinner. This year, I could often hear barking right under the window. Or really load munching, snorting and grunting, coming from the roe deer grazing on whatever it could find, not fazed by me watching it from a window from a distance of 15 m or so. Since then I always had my camera prepared. Until one evening I heard noises from a bit further away and saw a female deer, careful about approaching. And I could soon see why. She had her fawn with her. And I just had my camera ready :)
